This story idea has promise, especially since this book started as (and continues to be) a fan-fiction piece based on "Twilight" that has evolved into a trilogy. Also, I enjoyed parts of this tale; however, I feel the representation of the B.D.S.M. community (and how the lifestyle works) was explained in such a negative and incorrect light. I'm not trying to knock E.L. James, in fact, I think she has tapped into something, a story premise that many people crave. Numbers do not lie, and Ms. James has sold a ton of books. I am simply saying that I felt more research needed to be done. Also, I felt more editing (developmental and line editing) could have been done. For example, there was too much repetition. Yes, repetition can be used as a literary device, but not in the way it was used in these novels. Overall though, a good start, I just wish this tale would have been less of a fan-fiction piece and more of its own story.
